City
quiet.
A timber-and-black house that opens to its garden and keeps the street at a distance.

A house that turns away from the noise and opens towards light, lawn and a very old tree.
The design keeps a calm, closed face to the street and opens generously to the garden. A glazed pavilion in charred-timber tones links the living spaces to the lawn, so the tree becomes part of the interior.
Inside, we continued the exterior palette — warm timber, matte black, soft grey — so the boundary between house and garden reads as a gradient rather than a line.

DESIGN DECISIONS
What shaped the design.
- A calm face to the street. Closed and private towards the road, open to the garden.
- A glazed pavilion. Links living spaces with the lawn and the tree.
- A continuous palette. Timber, black and grey carried inside and out.
- Views as design. Furniture placed to frame the garden.
