Composed
light.
A long open-plan living, dining and kitchen space organised by light rather than walls.

One long room, three ways to live in it — and light that moves through all of them.
The brief was a single open volume that still feels zoned. We let light do the zoning: pendants over the kitchen island, a low pair of tables by the sofa, a timber feature wall that draws the eye down the length of the room.
The palette is restrained — soft greys, oak, black steel — with a single painting introducing colour. Everything else is texture: boucle, wool, brushed metal.

DESIGN DECISIONS
What shaped the design.
- Zoning with light. Pendants, lamps and a feature wall separate kitchen, dining and living.
- A restrained palette. Soft greys, oak and black steel.
- One painting for colour. A single artwork introduces colour.
- Texture everywhere else. Boucle, wool and brushed metal.
Ideas for working with compact or open-plan space are collected in small apartment layout ideas.
